1. Overview & Privacy Principles

ModelPath: Learn ML ("ModelPath", "we", "our", or "us") is an educational mobile application designed to teach machine learning concepts, algorithms, and practical workflows step by step.

We are committed to user privacy. ModelPath is engineered with a local-first architecture:

  • No User Accounts: ModelPath does not require account creation, user registration, social login, or password management.
  • No Cloud Sync of Learning State: Your personal notes, lesson bookmarks, quiz scores, and course progress remain stored directly on your physical device.
  • No Sale of Data: ModelPath does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or learning records.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

ModelPath stores educational progress and app preferences locally in a private on-device SQLite database and platform preferences storage (SharedPreferences):

  • Course & Lesson Progress: Completed lessons, reading timestamps, and curriculum completion metrics.
  • Practice & Quiz History: Formal quiz attempts, individual answer choices, scores, and practice exercise completion states.
  • Personal Notes: Custom notes and annotations created by the user within the in-app lesson note editor.
  • Bookmarks: Saved lessons and algorithm reference guides bookmarked for quick access.
  • Project Progress: Active project step positions, interactive checklist milestones, and guided reflections.
  • User Preferences: Theme selection (Light, Dark, or System default), onboarding completion flags, and chosen learning paths.
  • Operational Cache: Cached curriculum JSON bundles, educational diagrams, content version metadata, and frequency capping counters for non-disruptive ads.

Important: All notes and bookmarks created by the user are stored strictly inside the application's platform-private sandbox on your device and are never uploaded to ModelPath remote servers.

3. Remote Content Delivery (Cloudflare Pages)

ModelPath connects over secure HTTPS to our public content delivery network hosted on Cloudflare Pages (https://modelpath-content.pages.dev) to deliver and update educational materials.

This network communication is used strictly for:

  • Checking for and downloading updated curriculum catalogs, cheat sheets, and algorithm decision trees.
  • Downloading educational diagram images and visual assets.
  • Downloading optional project educational CSV datasets upon learner request.

Cloudflare operates as a content delivery network and may collect standard technical access logs (such as IP address, user-agent header, and request timestamps) necessary for security, performance, and reliability. 4. Advertising & Google AdMob

ModelPath uses Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to display banner advertisements on root screens and milestone interstitial advertisements following completed quizzes.

To deliver advertisements, monitor ad performance, and prevent fraud, Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically process certain technical information in accordance with Google's policies, including:

  • Device and advertising identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID on Android, where available and permitted).
  • IP address and general network/carrier information.
  • Ad interaction metrics (impressions, clicks, and display performance).
  • Device hardware specifications, operating system version, and application diagnostics.

5. Consent & Privacy Choices (Google UMP)

In regions where privacy regulations (such as the European Economic Area / GDPR or the UK) require user consent for advertising cookies or identifiers, ModelPath integrates the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK.

  • Consent Gating: ModelPath requests advertisements only when authorized under applicable consent settings via the SDK's canRequestAds status.
  • In-App Privacy Controls: Where required by regional regulations, users can review or change their advertising consent preferences at any time within the app by navigating to Profile → Privacy & Ads → Manage Ad Privacy.
  • Personalization: Ad personalization depends on your regional jurisdiction, consent selections, device advertising settings, and Google AdMob configuration.

6. Offline Functionality & Internet Usage

ModelPath is designed to support offline study. Once initial educational content and diagrams are cached on your device, core curriculum lessons, reference guides, and practice sessions remain accessible without an active internet connection.

An internet connection is used only when:

  • Checking for or downloading updated educational curriculum and diagrams from Cloudflare.
  • Requesting and displaying advertisements and managing consent through Google AdMob / UMP.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Because ModelPath does not maintain cloud accounts or remote user databases:

  • Local Data Retention: Your learning progress, notes, bookmarks, and settings remain on your physical device until you clear application storage in your device settings or uninstall the app.
  • Data Deletion: You can permanently delete all locally stored ModelPath data at any time by clearing the application's data via your device's Settings → Apps → ModelPath → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the application.

8. Security

We employ standard security practices to protect your experience:

  • Application data is isolated inside platform-enforced private app storage.
  • All remote content communication is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS / TLS.
  • Downloaded remote curriculum bundles are cryptographically verified using SHA-256 integrity checksums before activation.

While we implement diligent safeguards, no electronic transmission or local storage system is 100% infallible, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

ModelPath is an educational reference and learning tool designed for machine learning students, developers, and practitioners. It is not specifically directed at or marketed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
